DENVER (KDVR) — Hear ye, hear ye, the Colorado Renaissance Festival returns to Larkspur on June 15.

Get ready to take a trip back to the 1500s and experience the English Renaissance for eight weekends this summer. Beginning Saturday, the Colorado Renaissance Festival will run through Aug. 8.

From food and drinks to costumes to live entertainment, the Renaissance festival is sure to be a medieval-good time. Here is everything you need to know about attending the fest.

How to get tickets

There are three ways you can purchase tickets to the festival.

The most affordable option will be through King Soopers. Single-day tickets can be purchased at a participating location for $25 for adults and $10 for kids aged five to 12.

Single-day online tickets will cost adults $26.50 and children $11. Tickets can be purchased online at the Renaissance festival’s website.

If you decide to purchase tickets when you get to Larkspur, tickets at the box office will cost adults $28 and children $12.

Location and parking

The Colorado Renaissance Festival will be open on Saturday and Sunday only at 650 Perry Park Ave. in Larkspur. The festival will take place rain or shine.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the festival can be accessed via Spruce Mountain Road to Perry Park Avenue or Interstate 25. During the weekend, Bear Dance Drive south of Tomah Road will be closed except for golfers with tee times.

Parking is free.

What is and isn’t allowed

Remember to follow these rules so you can get inside the village:

  • No outside food or beverage except a factory-sealed water bottle.
  • No coolers allowed.
  • Shirts and shoes are required.
  • Full face masks are not allowed.
  • Pets are not allowed.
  • Costumes are allowed and encouraged.
  • Costume swords and daggers are allowed if they are properly sheathed. Costume wearers must check with safety services prior to entering.
  • Food and drinks can only be purchased with cash.

Themed weekends

During each of the eight weekends, the Renaissance festival will have a different theme.

June 15-16: Magical fantasy weekend

Grab your fairy wings, this weekend is dedicated to the fantasy creatures. Enter the costume contest at the Rose Stage at noon or meet with a mermaid; all magical inhabitants are welcome.

This weekend is also first responder appreciation weekend, according to the festival. There will be buy one, get one free adult tickets for all firefighters, police and sheriff personnel. Children of first responders under the age of 12 will also get in for free.

June 22-23: Ale and art festival, military appreciation weekend

This weekend is all about art and ale. There will be free beer tasting for all adults, according to the festival.

This weekend will also honor service members. The festival said all prior and active duty military can purchase a buy-one-get-one adult ticket at the box office. Children under the age of 12 will be free with a military ID.

June 29-30: Celtic weekend

Scottish pipe bands and madrigal singers will fill the festival this weekend. The festival said guests can enjoy performances from the Irish Troubadour and The Pikes Peak Highlanders.

There will also be a “men in kilts” contest.

July 6-7: Children’s weekend

Calling all lads and lasses, this weekend is for you.

The festival said all children under the age of 12 can experience the Renaissance culture for free with an adult admission ticket. There will also be prince, princess and pirate costume contests, knighting ceremonies and photos with the king and queen.

July 13-14: Pirate invasion weekend

This weekend is all about the pirates and scallywags.

Children can join the captain’s crew at the front gate and seek out treasure. The festival said there will also be a costume contest.

July 20-21: Wine and revelry weekend

If you are a wine fan, you will want to attend the Renaissance festival this weekend.

The festival will have a legendary grape stomp competition and free samplings of some vintage wines from wineries around the area.

July 27-28: Renaissance romance and masquerade weekend

Grab your finest gowns and crowns and prepare for a weekend of romance. The festival said this weekend is dedicated to the lovers.

There will be a “Renewal of Vows” ceremony and a “Wooing” competition.

Aug. 3-4: Time traveler’s weekend and final huzzah

For the last weekend of the 2024 season, the festival said it’s holding an epic celebration with a visit from the king.
