HealthSherpa provides an enhanced enrollment connection meaning every application will be automatically synced with HealthCare.gov. Clients never have to log into HealthCare.gov and your application time decreases to an average of 7.5 minutes!

Creating a HealthSherpa for Agents account is fast, easy, and free. Most agents are able to go through this process in 3-4 minutes. If you haven't already created a HealthSherpa for Agents account, visit this page for step-by-step instructions.

CMS requires HealthSherpa (and all EDE partners) to require agents and brokers to integrate their FFM accounts. Agents who fail to do so will not be able to search the Marketplace, submit applications, or view clients.

Luckily, this is a quick and easy process to complete. Here’s how:

  • Log into your HealthSherpa for Agents account

  • Click into your Settings, and click the “Integrate My FFM Account” button

  • This will launch the “CMS Okta Identity Management” portal in a new window

  • Log in using your FFM username and password to authenticate and link your HealthSherpa account

  • Once the account is integrated, you will see a success banner at the top of the screen as well as a green check mark noting you were successful.

You will need to complete this authentication process every 30 days to remain in compliance with CMS requirements.

Enhanced Direct Enrollment is a technology that allows HealthSherpa to fully integrate withthe Marketplace so you can do applications entirely on HealthSherpa without being redirected to Healthcare.gov. With HealthSherpa’s EDE, you can process applications, submit follow-ups, track statuses, and much more without ever leaving HealthSherpa — managing your ACA business becomes easier and more streamlined.

Here’s how to Enable EDE:

  1. Log into your HealthSherpa for Agents account

  2. When you log into your dashboard, you will see a “Enable EDE” button at the top - please click on this to begin the ID proofing process.

  3. This will take you to a page to verify your identity - you will enter your contact information here and then click "Continue".

  4. This will then pull up the ID proofing questions based on personal credit history through CMS' partner, Experian. ​Please note: These questions are pulled from your personal information, so please answer with your own information (not information about your business)

Upon successful ID proofing, you will be taken back to your dashboard and the "Enable EDE" button in the top of your dashboard will be gone. You now have access to EDE! Learn more about Enabling EDE here.

The HealthSherpa Referrals Program allows agents to enroll their clients in the right health plan to meet their needs. In states you are licensed within, you can write the policy for your client and HealthSherpa becomes the Agent of Record (AOR). During SEP you can earn a referral bonus of $50 for each client you refer to HealthSherpa, and during OEP this amount typically increases.

After you submit your first referral, you will be prompted to set up payments and a W-9 on your "Referrals" tab. You can submit a W-9 by selecting “Submit W-9” within the “Bonuses” page.

You can always renew these clients under your AOR (Agent of Record) the following year. Also, if you’re licensed but not FFM certified you can create a referral-only account here.

You remain responsible for complying with all applicable state insurance laws regarding licensure and appointment. The Referrals Program may not be used to circumvent state laws that require you to be appointed with a carrier in order to discuss that carrier’s plans with a consumer.

When referring an application, you also remain responsible for complying with all CMS consent regulations. Learn more about managing consent here.

The “Carrier” menu is where you can add your licensed states and appointed carriers. If you have the referral program turned on, you can also choose which carriers you would like to refer. To access this menu, click on the gear icon located on the top, right-hand side of your dashboard, and select "carriers." Learn more about your carrier settings here.

With your HealthSherpa for Agents account you get access to powerful shopping and enrollment tools so you can:

  • Easily with accurate subsidy estimation displayed

  • Share plans with your clients

  • Quickly search for providers and prescriptions

  • View plans from all available carriers in a customer’s writing area

  • Access pre-filled renewal applications

  • Plus more!

Being able to easily manage, track, and follow up with your customers is important. It will help you stay organized, work more efficiently, and most importantly grow your business. That’s why we have spent so much time creating customer management tools inside your HealthSherpa for Agents account.

You'll find customers categorized into either the Clients page or the Leads page.

The Clients page displays customers who have submitted their subsidy application and selected a plan. The Leads page displays customers who have begun the quoting/application process, but have not yet submitted their subsidy application and/or selected a plan. When Leads complete their subsidy application and select a plan, they will automatically be moved over to the Clients page.

Here are a few helpful features you can start using today:

  • Filter your clients or leads to see where they are in the enrollment process

  • Import new clients or leads to your HealthSherpa for Agents account

  • Add notes to each client or lead to keep track of important information

  • Easily pull existing applications from the Marketplace

Now with Enhanced Direct Enrollment (EDE), you’re able to easily maintain applications directly from HealthSherpa. After you have completed an enrollment, here are some of the things you can do inside your dashboard:

On HealthSherpa the renewal process is quick and easy, saving you time to focus on other parts of your business.

Here’s how it works:

  • Log into your HealthSherpa for Agents account

  • For existing customers in your book of business:

    • Select the "Clients" page

    • Search for your client and click on the "Renew" button to the right of their name

    • From there, the application will automatically be pre-filled

    • Go through the app to make any necessary updates

    • Choose a plan and submit the renewal

  • For customers who are new to your book of business:

    • Select the "Search Marketplace” button

    • Search for your customer and claim the existing marketplace application

    • From there, the application will automatically be pre-filled

    • Go through the app to make any necessary updates

    • Choose a plan and submit the renewal

HealthSherpa provides a customizable enrollment website where your clients can quote to see available plans and even enroll. Customers are also able to translate the site into Spanish!
