FLORENCE — The Florence Flamingos are back in action for the 2024 season.
With nearly 30 home games slated this season, there’s no shortage of opportunities for Florence residents and Flamingos fans to catch a game— and some goofy entertainment— at Carolina Bank Field.
“We are currently in 18 countries, people who have bought our merchandise from the little town of Florence,” Team President Mitchell Lister said. “Not only is the community excited about it, but the sports world continues to talk about us, too.”
Flamingos owner Steve DeLay put the team up for sale in late November 2023. The summer collegiate team isn’t going anywhere, Lister said, despite the possible change of ownership in the future.

Every seat at Carolina Bank Field was full for 13 sellout games during the 2023 season. Two years after rebranding to the Florence Flamingos from the Florence Redwolves, Lister and the team hope to push the envelope toward 18 this season.
“We plan to be here long term,” Lister said. “We are going to keep bringing the fan-first entertainment, and we are going to make sure we continue to focus on championships and Florence for a long time.”
The Flamingos haven’t brought home a Coastal Plain League title since rebranding, Lister said. They hope to change that this season.
Besides baseball, fans can expect some oddball on-field entertainment during home games. The team puts on skits and fan-centered games between innings, and sends a hype team into the crowd, Lister said.
Lister caught a pie in the face from his 3-year-old child last season during the team’s Pie-A-Parent between-inning game. Adult fans can take to the field to test out “drunk goggles” that simulate vision after a few too many beers.
Overall, the team wants to focus on the unexpected when it comes to entertainment, Lister said.
“It’s just trying to do creative things, goofy things, to make people want to come out— both who love baseball and people who are not as familiar with the sport,” Lister said. “Anybody who’s willing to come, we will have a good time.”
Fans can also expect a few theme nights sprinkled throughout the home game schedule. From Star Wars Night to Margaritaville Night, fans can gear up for themed shenanigans.
Home games make up around half of the Flamingos’ schedule for the 2024 season. They will play the first three games of the season on the team’s home turf, Carolina Bank Field.

All games start at 7 p.m., with gates open at 6 p.m. The box office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on game days. Fans can also buy tickets online.
Each home game will be at Carolina Bank Field located in the Florence Sports Complex at 1200 Jennie O’Bryan Ave. in Florence.
