Maureen Rita Herren, age 95, of White Hall, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018. Born in Mason City, Iowa on March 10, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Perry Ross Peterson and Winnie Ruth Logan Peterson.

A homemaker, she loved gardening, reading, and making quilts and crafts. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Herren was preceded in death on December 18, 2012 by her husband of 71 years, Charles Edward “Charlie” Herren; a brother, Eugene Peterson; two sisters, Wanda Nutt and Maxine co*ker; and a great-granddaughter, Danielle Bailey.

Survivors include her children, Brady Herren, Doris Law, Rose Forrest (Paul), and Charles Herren; a sister, Jo Ann Herren; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 12, 2018, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Brother Tim Law officiating. Burial will follow in Hardin Cemetery.

J.W. Barber

J.W. Butch Barber, age 75, of Warren, AR, died Saturday, December 8th, 2018. He was born February 22nd, 1943 in Greenville, MS, a son of the late Charles Barber and Kathleen Scott Barber. He was retired from JRMC in Pine Bluff, AR with 38 years of service. He was a United States Navy veteran and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Sonny Barber and a sister Billie Baldwin.

J.W. Butch Barber is survived by his wife, Bessie Reba Jones Barber, whom he married May 12th, 1973. A son Jason Wayne Barber, Warren, AR. Daughters Rebecca Lynn Shiver and spouse Brad, Hamburg, AR. Gail Pearson, Dallas, TX. A brother Ronnie Barber and spouse Evelyn, Wooster, AR. Sisters Joann Lovelady, Hot Springs, AR and Charlene Gammel, White Hall, AR. 4 grandchildren Carly Shiver, Briana Pearson, Rush Pearson and Bryce Pearson. 2 great grandchildren Karter Price and Kynzlee Pearson.

Frederic McGee

Frederic S. McGee, 58, of Pine Bluff passed December 5, 2018. Born September 27, 1960, in Pine Bluff to Lue Virgie and Mary Taylor McGee.

Survivors include two sons; Frederic S. McGee, Jr. of Little Rock and Keith A. McGee of Pine Bluff; daughter, Ebony McGee of Pine Bluff; Brother, Darryl McGee of Conway, AR.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Barraque Street Baptist Church by Rev. Steven Arnold. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery by Henson-Holcomb Mortuary. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Mortuary. The body will lie in state at the Church from 9:00 A.M. until time of the service.

Joe Cassady

Joe Evans Cassady, 85, of Pine Bluff, died peacefully Sunday, December 9, 2018, at home among family.

He was born December 21, 1932, in Nashville, Arkansas, son of Henry Julian Cassady and Mattie Ida Feemster Cassady. Joe was raised and received his early education in Nashville, graduating from Nashville High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Arkansas Polytechnic College in Russellville (now Arkansas Tech University).

After serving in the Army, he worked as a band director for several schools, including Hampton, Wabbaseka, Helena and White Hall before opening his own piano tuning business. He also served as music director at First Baptist Church of Hampton and Zion Baptist Church of Fordyce, Arkansas.

Joe was a member of First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty Lou Primm Cassady. Survivors include his son, David Cassady (Rejeana) of Lexington, KY; his daughter, Sherry Cassady of Pine Bluff; grandchildren, Tristen Hastings, Cassady Schuck, Jonathan Cassady (Melissa), Megan Carpenter (Adam); and a great-grandson, Cameron Hastings.

Larry Aldridge

Larry Dewayne Aldridge, 63, of Pine Bluff, passed away after a brief illness on December 9, 2018.

He was born to Ashley Arnold and Hettie Lind Aldridge, July 3, 1955, and received his education in North Little Rock. Larry spent most of his working life as a welder for Varco Pruden and a deputy for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

Being predeceased by his parents, he leaves behind 2 sons, Nick Aldridge (Madison), of White Hall, Spencer Aldridge, of Pine Bluff; sisters, Sue Jones (Billy), of Pine Bluff, Pat Williams, of Conway; brother, Jerry Aldridge, of Conway; a cherished granddaughter, Avery Ayne Aldridge; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Robinson & Fuller White Hall Funeral Chapel with burial following at Lee Cemetery, with Brother Sammy Alverson officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Tuesday, at Robinson and Fuller. Online register: www.ralphrobinsonandson.com

Harold Hammersla

Harold Wright “Hammer” Hammersla, 86, of Little Rock, passed away June 5, 2018. He was born February 28, 1932, in Rochester, New York to Beatrice Hammersla Trick. Harold served in the Airforce during the Korean War. He worked for the Corps of Engineers for over 30 years and later retired from the Pine Bluff Resident Office as the Resident Engineer. Harold loved to fish and play golf. Rosswood Country Club was his home away from home. The only thing he loved more than golf were his grandkids and his dog.

He is preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy Hammersla of Little Rock; daughter, Michelle Odum (Kevin) of Little Rock; son, Scott Hammersla (Malesa and her son, Logan) of Fayetteville; and three grandchildren, Mark, Seth, and Kate Odum.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lakeside United Methodist Church or American Diabetes Association.
