How do you differentiate between the environmental impacts of organizations across different geographies, local conditions, products, local regulations etc.? For several years, ofi has been working towards assessing the true value (cost or benefits) of some of our operations on the ground and most recently, our Finance for Sustainability and Coffee experts Rishi Kalra Ria Bakshi Jeremy Dufour and Aryan Tandon joined forces to assess the year-on-year monetary impact of our select coffee growing operations in five origins. Through this Natural Capital Valuation, we can guide teams to prioritize locations which have higher water externalities cost, supporting our target to save 1.5 million m3 of water annually by 2030, under our Coffee LENS sustainability strategy. We plan to establish a strong business case for organizations to not take the myopic view of short run profitability and instead invest in nature positive decisions which will have significant positive impact on financial performance in the long run.#WorldEnvironmentDay #impactmateriality #valuingexternalities #naturalcapital #F4Shttps://lnkd.in/eW33Bcfq

What it means for a business to ‘create value’ is changing. It is no longer enough to consider Financial Capital alone. Both customers and investors expect to see a company’s impact on society and the environment reflected in its overall performance. Through ofi’s case study on Social Capital Impact Valuation, our Finance for Sustainability and coffee experts Rishi Kalra Ria Bakshi Harriet Divis Jeremy Dufour and Stefannie C. assessed specific income generation related interventions for Coffee farmers in Honduras using the Social Return on Investment (SROI) framework. The SROI of 8:1 signifies the societal value we are creating through our farmer segmentation approach and how it is correlated with long-term value to ofi. The program aims to narrow the living income gap of approximately 1,000 coffee farmers. Combining key learnings with knowledge-sharing through partnerships with our key stakeholders will improve access to data which could help us tailor interventions to specific needs. We will continue to make a case for social investments to deliver maximum social value on the ground.#impactmateriality #socialreturns #partnershipsforsocialgood #F4Shttps://lnkd.in/e_3cRkiB
