Fair City and The Commitments star Annie Kent died suddenly on Tuesday, June 4.

The actress, known for her role as Angela O'Connell on the hit RTÉ soap, appeared on the show for 11 years from 2005 until 2016.

Originally hailing from Mount Pleasant Square in Ranelagh, Annie relocated to Gorey in Co Wexford in recent years.

Annie's official death notice on rip.ie reads: '[She] died suddenly on the 4th June, 2024 at Beaumont Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of Pierce H and mother of Pierce T and Jayne.'

'Adored loving Nana of Hannah, Aimee, Lucie, and Alice and sadly missed by her daughter-in-law Jenny, son-in-law Greg and her surviving brothers and sisters Terry, Jane and Charlie and sister-in-law Trish her nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.'

Annie's remains will repose at Murphy's Funeral, The Avenue, Gorey on Friday, June 7 from 6pm until 8pm. The late actress' funeral will take place on Saturday, June 8 at 11.45am at The Church of The Holy Name in Ranelagh.

Tributes have been pouring in for the Dublin star since news of her death broke, with one mourner writing: 'I only saw this beautiful lady on TV but what a wonderful person she must be to have a family that made her funeral arrangements open to people who loved and admired her. I will be watching and praying for you all and hope that your kindness will be be an inspiration to others. May her soul rest in peace.'

Aside from her role in Fair City, Annie also had notable roles such as Mrs Rabbitte in The Commitments and Rose Kennedy inP.S I Love You.

Her most recent role was as Sheila in Baz Ashmawy's TV show Faithless.
